CAMFI nudges upwards in August

September 25, 2017 • By Emily Mackay

CAMFI, the global Crowdfunding & Marketplace Finance Index, was 91.13 for August 2017.

The index shows a slight improvement in market health from July to August, but overall evidencing the summer slump. Global crowdfunding and marketplace finance industry followed July’s sub-100 trend in August, continuing to show sluggishness. The Reward Sub-Index was the main driver for August CAMFI’s slight increase and increasing scale (ie market volume) measures helped boost CAMFI overall. Industry Scale continued to shrink despite some evident expansion in the Trading Scale of the Reward segment.

Industry Efficiency saw notable fluctuations in August; various industry segments showed signs of differentiation and diversification. But Industry Transparency was on a par with July, where improvement is much looked forward to.

In summary, whilst the Chinese markets show signs of increasing health, the global view was one of decline in August, largely attributed to the vacation season in the dominant markets.
